MARTIN COUTNY -- The Humane Society of the Treasure Coast invites residents and their pets to kick off the holidays with its second annual holiday extravaganza.
The event will be held Dec. 8 from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. at the HSTC shelter, 4100 S.W. Leighton Farm Ave., Palm City. Admission is free.
The event will feature pet pictures with Santa by J.C. Penney Lifetouch Portrait Studio, arts and crafts, home-baked goods, music by T-Rex Entertainment and an assortment of vendors.
A portion of all sales will benefit the shelter animals. The HSTC also encourages participants to bring in a donation item for the shelter pets in need.
Animals also will be available for adoption along with low-cost spay and neuter vouchers for sale.
Event goers also can pre-register for the HSTC's "Home for the Holidays" foster program, which runs from Dec. 19- Jan. 5, 2013. The goal is for all dogs to be fostered in homes during this holiday promotional period with the ultimate goal of getting them adopted into a forever home.
