Children pull in a haul at derby

The Kiwanis Club of Southeast Volusia attracted 200 children for its annual Kids Fishing Derby on Saturday, Nov. 17, at Riverside Park in New Smyrna Beach.

The children caught more fish than ever, even a snook, and all were released.

The winners were:

Ages 4-6: Madison Russ (caught a total of 10 fish), Most Fish; Layla Reasin (12.5-inch fish), Largest Fish; and Randal Robertson (4.5-inch fish), Smallest Fish.

Ages 7-9: Gage Quasney, Biggest Fish at 11 inches; Cody Nicastro, Most Fish at 15; and Rachel Thomas, smallest fish at 5.5 inches.

Ages 10-14: George Pisula, Most Fish at 19; Patrick Foley, Biggest Fish at 14 inches; and Faith LaBlanc, Smallest Fish at 4.5 inches.
