MARTIN COUNTY -- Dr. Ronald Frenkel of Eye Research Foundation and the Council on Aging of Martin County is looking for secret Santas for seniors.
Last year the council identified seven seniors who would benefit from modest items on their holiday wish lists, and the community was wonderful in its response.
This year, the effort has grown to include 70 individuals and will include the entire county with seniors from Stuart and Indiantown.
The seniors' requests are modest: sheets, sweaters and jackets, socks and some would like just to be remembered with a little holiday cheer including a holiday card with a kind greeting.
The foundation has decorated a holiday tree with Santa gift tags with the seniors' names and wish lists. Residents are asked to stop by the Eye Research Foundation at 509 Riverside Dr., Suite 302, Stuart, on the grounds of the Martin Memorial North Hospital campus, to pick up a tag and make the holidays happier for deserving seniors.
Unwrapped wish-list items or monetary contributions to help purchase them are always appreciated.
Donations are tax deductible. Dr. Frenkel will deliver the gifts to the council on Dec. 17.
