Fresh off memorable and historic performances at the recent London Olympic Games, USA Track & Field will begin setting the stage for continued success in the sport when the organization's annual meeting finds its way to the Hilton Daytona Beach Oceanfront Resort Nov. 28-Dec. 2.
Along with preparations for continuing the tradition as the "World's #1 Track & Field Team," the USA Track & Field annual meeting will feature a celebrity golf scramble and 5K beach run.
National Track & Field Hall of Famer and Olympic gold medalist Dan O'Brien along with 2012 Olympians Wallace Spearmon and Darvis "Doc" Patton will be among many big names playing in the USA Track & Field Celebrity Golf Scramble scheduled for Friday, Nov. 30, at the Venetian Bay Golf Club
The tournament will feature an 8 a.m. shotgun start and spots are available as a single or as part of foursome. The cost is $150 per person and $500 for each foursome. Select foursomes will have the chance to play alongside one of the celebrities.
Prizes will be given away both as a drawing and to the winners, which will include autographed USA Track & Field merchandise. A raffle will take place in conjunction with the annual meeting with tickets available on site along with contests for closest to the pin and longest drive.
Proceeds go directly toward funding USA Track & Field initiatives, including youth programs, elite athlete development, support of Team USA and programs for masters, officials and associations.
The setting of the Atlantic Ocean will serve as the backdrop for interested runners in the USA Track & Field 5 km Beach Run on the morning of Saturday, Dec. 1.
Registration is now open. The early entry fee is $25. It will be offered until Nov. 27. Entries will then be taken until 5 p.m. on Nov. 30 for $40 per person. All entrants will receive a USATF spike bag.
