ST. LUCIE COUNTY - Voters in the Nov. 6 election had three seats to decide on for the St. Lucie County Commission.

After all the votes were counted, the two incumbents Chris Dzadovsky and Paula Lewis, retained their seats, while Kim Johnson will be stepping into the seat vacated by Chris Craft, who was elected as St. Lucie County tax collector in August.

The District 1 seat was between Mr. Dzadovsky and Robert Benton, who is current mayor of Fort Pierce.

Mr. Dzadovsky received 62,154 votes, or 53.96 percent, to Mr. Benton's 53,024 votes, or 46.04 percent.

"I wish to thank the voters of St. Lucie County for their support and giving me the privilege to serve again for the next four years and for the volunteers who worked tirelessly to make ensure our positive message was heard," said Mr. Dzadovsky.

"I wish Mayor Benton well in his new endeavors, and thank him and his family for 17 years of public service."

In the District 3 race, Ms. Lewis ran against Debra Swanson. Ms. Lewis received 63,823 votes, or 55.70 percent, to Ms. Swanson's 50,755 votes, or 44.30 percent. Neither Ms. Lewis nor Ms. Swanson could be reached for comment.

In the District 5 race, it was the first time Mr. Johnson and Bobby Hopkins ran for the seat.

Mr. Johnson received 61,496 votes, or 53.71 percent, to Mr. Hopkins 52,998 votes, or 46.49 percent.

Mr. Johnson and Mr. Hopkins could not be reached for comment.
