A collage of Europe is solo exhibition
Derek Gores' first solo exhibit in Brevard since 2010 is at EGAD! Art Lab, 1405 Highland Ave, Melbourne.
Expect large format collage work, created by recycling magazines, maps, menus, notes and other elements gathered on his European trip.
Backers of Mr. Gores' project on Indiegogo.com funded the trip, achieving three objectives: Mr. Gores held a free collage workshop for young artists at Stockton Sixth Form College in Stockton-on-Tees, UK. He introduced his collage works to galleries in Paris and the UK, and Mr. Gores created this new body of work inspired by the trip.
Mr. Gores says to expect his particular take on the people, places and things experienced from the view inside and outside his 'briefly European head.'
Also in the lab will be the photography of UK photographer Helen Davies in her USA debut, and collage works by Derek's workshop students from Stockton Sixth Form College, UK.
The work will be on display through November.
EGAD Art Lab hours are typically Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and by appointment.
