ST. LUCIE COUNTY -
Daniel Holbrook of Port St. Lucie planning director for Kids at Hope is planning a trip to Haiti with County Commissioner Tod Mowery to visit several orphanages.
Mr. Holbrook came up with the idea of having Kids at Hope students create cards/pictures for the children with a message of hope. He will deliver the cards to the children in the orphanages and in turn, will ask the children in Haiti to create cards and pictures that he will deliver to the Kids at Hope students with pictures of his trip.
The Kids at Hope schools participating are: Forest Grove Middle School, JE Sampson Memorial School, Oak Hammock K-8 School, Weatherbee Elementary and Windmill Point Elementary.
The Kids at Hope initiative promotes the belief that all children are capable of success, no exceptions and a practice of ensuring that all children are connected with a caring adult to create goals for the future in four destinations: home and family, education and career, hobbies and recreation, and community and service.
Kids at Hope is an initiative of the roundtable of St. Lucie County, and is funded by both Children's Services Council of St. Lucie County and the United Way of St. Lucie County.
