VERO BEACH - Spark of Divine is a community of spiritually minded people looking to be healthy from the inside out.
Since its opening one year ago, Spark of Divine has made its facilities useful to the community at large in the form of classes and special events.
Located in the dine and design district, the spiritual center is open during monthly art walks and offers wine and light refreshments.
The classes and sessions are led by various instructors from Indian River County and as far away as Europe, each leading in their particular area of expertise, said Beth Franks, owner.
Multiple morning yoga c classes are available during the week, and there is an afternoon and an evening class as well, Ms. Franks said.
Other class subjects are: angelology, drumming, meditation, healthy eating, sound healing, qigong and reiki to name a few.
Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation, using the energy field of the body and a light touch or no touch at all, Ms. Franks said.
"Reiki is a wonderful healing tool. It doesn't take the place of conventional medicine, but it certainly can assist," she said.
Ms. Franks is an Ursui/Tibetan reiki master and has seen firsthand the help reiki can bring to an individual.
Reiki is helpful in reducing the side effects of chemotherapy and radiation on cancer patients, Ms. Franks said.
Lunchtime group reiki circles are offered Fridays at noon at Spark of Divine so busy career people can enjoy a stress-reduced afternoon.
Special guests Tohmas and Marilyn Twintrees, crystal readers and spirit guide experts from New Mexico will be at Spark of Divine for workshops and special appointments Dec. 7-12.
"This will be their first time at Spark of Divine, but not their first time in Vero Beach," Ms. Frank said.
Special events at Spark of Divine usually occur in relation to the phases of the moon, Ms. Franks said.
Each full moon, new moon, equinox and solstice have special significance to the spiritual community and different faiths, so celebrating that together is a high priority at Spark of Divine.
"There is no dogma," Ms. Franks said.
"We are a spiritual community, and we all some faith but we don't judge" she said.
The gift store on site concentrates on the metaphysical.
Angels, figurines, tarot, candles, crystals, books and other art pieces are kept well-stocked in the shop.
Physic readers are available several days during the week, so appointments are recommended, though walk-ins are welcomed, as well.
Spark of Divine is located at 1789 Old Dixie Highway, Vero Beach. For more information about events or classes, call (772) 257-6499 or visit www.facebook.com/Spark.of.Divine.
