BREVARD - In honor of those who have put their lives on the line for the nation's freedom, various Veterans Day events and freebies will be held throughout Brevard County this weekend.

. Honor America's Veterans Day Parade: Honor America is sponsoring a Veterans Day Parade at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 10, starting at 1601 Oak Street Park in Melbourne and winding through the streets of Downtown Melbourne.

All are welcomed in this opportunity to salute and honor our veterans and those currently fighting abroad.

. Massing of the Colors at Brevard Community College: Brevard Community College will host the 30th Annual Veterans Memorial Service and Massing of the Colors event on Sunday, Nov. 11, beginning at 3 p.m. on the Cocoa campus in the George F. Schlatter Veterans Memorial Amphitheater. The event is free to the public.

The event honors those who gave their lives, while providing service to the United States, and it pays tribute to those who currently serve in the U.S. Armed Forces. This year's featured service is the U.S. Coast Guard.

The BCC Wall of Honor, located at the entrance of the amphitheater, displays the names of more than 100 of Brevard County's military casualties, dating from World War I to current conflicts. Sadly, three names were added to the Wall of Honor this year to commemorate our local fallen military members, including: U.S. Army Chief Warrant Officer 3, Brian Hornsby, 37, from Melbourne; U.S. Army Spc. Justin Horsley, 21, from Palm Bay; and Marine Gunnery Sgt. Jonathan Gifford, 34, from Palm Bay.

Brevard Community College's Cocoa campus is located at 1519 Clearlake Road.
