. Holiday craft fair: The Immaculate Conception Church Women's Guild will present its 34th Annual Holiday Craft Fair 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Nov. 9 and 10, at 3780 Highway A1A, Melbourne Beach.

There will be handcrafted items, children's articles, home décor, holiday items, dolls homemade breads, jams, jellies, brownies and raffles.

. Family movie night in the Park: Family movie night will be held at the Satellite Beach Civic Center, 565 Cassia Blvd., Satellite Beach, with the fun beginning at 6 p.m. Friday, Nov. 9. Food and drinks will be sold at a nominal fee, and there will be family games until the feature movie "Madagascar 3" begins at dusk. Bring your picnic blanket or lawn chairs, as you will be sitting on the grass. This event is sponsored by the Satellite Beach Reserve Firefighters.

. Beach community garage sale: Floridana Beach is a small community in unincorporated Brevard County. It is located just 8 miles north of Sebastian Inlet off of Highway A1A or 12 miles south of U.S. 192. On Saturday, Nov. 10 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. the community will be having its annual community garage sale. There will be tools, fishing and surfing items, antiques, furniture, marina supplies, a jon boat, rare books, art and a plant sale.

. Tournament for sight: The Satellite Beach Lions Club will host its 23rd annual Tournament for Sight on Saturday, Nov. 10, at the Habitat Golf Course, 3591 Fairgreen St., Valkaria.

The format will be a four-person scramble with a shotgun start at 8 a.m.

The $65 entry fee includes greens' fee, a cart, a barbecue buffet lunch, drink tickets, closest-to-pin and team prizes, goodie bag and range balls.

Planned silent-auction items include airline tickets, Arnold Palmer autographed item, cart golf bag and a Nike Victory Red driver. Tickets will be sold for numerous door-prize drawings and a 50/50 drawing.

Proceeds from the tournament support community projects, like eye exams and eyeglasses for the needy, grants to area school teachers, Christmas food baskets, Brevard Association for the Advancement of the Blind, community betterment projects, Serene Harbor, New Beginnings, Brevard Sharing Center and State outreach programs that address eyesight and hearing-related issues and diabetes, and Lions Club International Foundation.

The Satellite Beach Lions Club meets the first and third Tuesdays at 6:30 p.m. at the Double Tree Suites by Hilton Melbourne Beach Oceanfront, Indialantic.

. 'Get your walking shoes on: The annual Brevard Epilepsy Walk will be at Gleason Park, 1233 Yacht Club Blvd., Indian Harbour Beach, Saturday, Nov. 10.

. Seminole Tribal Historian speaks: The Florida Historical Society will host Willie Johns, Florida Seminole Tribal Historian on Saturday, Nov. 10 at 2 p.m. in the Library of Florida History, 435 Brevard Ave., Historic Cocoa Village. Mr. Johns will discuss the history of the Florida Seminole Tribe.

The lecture starts at 2 p.m. in the Library of Florida History. The event is free and open to the public. Discussion and refreshments follow the talk.

. Caribbean Casino Night: Come and roll the dice at the Holy Name of Jesus Life Center, 3050 N. Highway A1A, Indialantic, 6-10 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 10.

There will be blackjack, craps, roulette, slot machines, Texas Hold 'Em, a live DJ, hors d' oeuvres, beverages, prizes and a few surprises.

. JAZZOO at the Zoo: Brevard Zoo's third annual JAZZOO will be Saturday, Nov. 10, from 7-11 p.m. JAZZOO, a tapestry of musical and epicurean adventures, presented by Christopher Burton Homes, will feature a vibrant night of food, drink, and music throughout the Zoo.

The all-inclusive event will feature favorite dishes and decadent desserts from some of the area's most popular restaurants and caterers, a variety of tantalizing libations and live music.

This year's event will highlight three distinct music venues.

The Meerkat Lounge in the Nyami Nyami River Lodge will feature live jazz performed by Slim Man, produced by the Brevard Music Group, with wine tasting provided by Crispy's Beer & Wine Bar.

Paws On will transform into a beachfront party, sponsored by Blue Bell Landscaping, with live surf rock from the Danny Morris Band.

The Flamingo Café area will come alive with music from Rod MacDonald & The Rovers and a Beer Garden hosted by World of Beer. Open bars will serve beer provided by Florida Beer Company, as well as wine (liquor is included for those with VIP tickets).

. "Then & Now The 1715 Fleet" Presentation Sunday, Nov. 11 2 p.m.: Join Joe Bartoszek, master scuba instructor, for a pictorial presentation on the 1715 Fleet.

. Turkey Creek paddle Saturday, Nov. 17, 1-4 p.m.: Explore hydric hammocks, mesic hammocks and sand pine scrub by way of the treasured blackwater creek. Meet at Goode Park, 1300 Bianca Drive NE, Palm Bay. Wear water shoes and sunscreen and bring a water bottle, a snack and insect repellant. Binoculars and cash for a stop at the Margaret Hames Nature Center and Gift Shop are optional. Tandem touring kayaks for a party of two or singles available. . "Sea Stars" Touch tank Sunday, Nov. 18, 1-3 p.m. encourages participants to respect the environment as they learn about a variety of marine life. Special tank guests will include a diamondback terrapin, a nine-armed sea star and an assortment of conchs and crabs.

. "Burn & Learn" holiday hike Saturday, Nov. 24, 10 a.m.: Burn off some extra holiday calories and learn all about the barrier island's wildflowers. On a 2.5-mile hike through a magical maritime forest you can look for flowering epiphytes in sprawling live oaks or butterflies feeding on wildflower blossoms. The hike will be led by Florida master naturalist, Vince Lamb. Wear/bring closed- toe shoes, sunscreen, water bottle and insect repellant. Meet at Maritime Hammock trailhead, 6200 S. "Human Footprint" film Sunday, Nov. 25, 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.: In recognition of "America Recycles Day" join us for an eye-opening look at the extraordinary impact that each of our lives has on the world around us. Demonstrated through remarkable visuals, this unique journey through life shows all the people you will ever know, how much waste you will produce, the amount of fuel you'll consume and how much you've got to pack in during your 2,475,526,000 seconds on Earth. Running time is 90 minutes. The Barrier Island Center is owned and managed by the Brevard County Environmentally Endangered Lands Program. It is located at 8385 S. Highway A1A, Melbourne Beach. . Walk-a-thon/family fun day: This event will be 7:30 a.m. to noon, Saturday, Nov. 17 at Front Street Park, Melbourne. The walk starts at 8:30 a.m. There will be a special appearance by the Chick-fil-A "Cow" and "Baby Cow." The first 100 participants at check-in receive a free chicken biscuit. Many more fun activities include: the walk along the river, music by Jack Clutterham, face painting, massages, Zumba warm-up, old-fashioned games, such as sack race, wheel barrow race, three-legged race, ball toss and corn-hole, with lots of prizes for children. Fresh fruit, cold water, Gatorade and granola bars will be available.

. 'Art in the Park' art and crafts show: The 28th annual Indian Harbour Beach City Art & Crafts Show will be held in Gleason Park from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 17 (with Nov. 18 as a rain date).

Many vendors will display their work, which includes custom woodworking, hand crafted jewelry, photography, mixed media, acrylics and mosaics, floral arrangements and wreaths, knitted and crochet items, sculpture and stained glass, crafts, pottery, homemade soap and herbal products and much more.

. Exclusive screening event: The "Song of the Mockingbird" exclusive screening event will benefit the South Brevard Sharing Center Children's Services Program.

Nicolosi, the artist and producer, will host a special screening of the documentary tribute commemorating the 50th anniversary of the landmark film "To Kill A Mockingbird."

This promises to be an "Evening of Inspiration" where Nicolosi and Academy Award nominee Mary Badham ("Scout" in the film) come together to share the intimate stories of the film, the book and the lessons learned by society thru the film.

This screening will take place at the Gleason Performing Arts Center at Florida Tech Wednesday, Nov. 17, from 7-10 p.m.

There will be red carpet photo opportunities, inspirational music, special guests and a dessert reception.

General admission and VIP tickets are available on a first-come, first-serve basis.

. Humane Society's 'Critter Run: The Central Brevard Humane Society will host its 15th Annual Critter Run on Sunday, Nov. 25th, starting at 10 a.m. at the Humane Society, 1020 Cox Road, Cocoa.

The cost to participate in the poker run will be $7 per hand or two hands for $10. All vehicles are welcome.

The run begins at the Central Brevard Humane Society and will end at Dog 'n' Bone British Pub, located at 9 Stone St. in Cocoa Village.

The first bike out will be scheduled to leave at 10 a.m., with the last one departing at 11:30 a.m.

Event activities will include a 50/50 drawing, vendor displays, food and live entertainment by the Big Daddy Band, beginning at 1 p.m. Prizes will be awarded for "best," "worst" and "mystery" hands.

Event sponsors include ABATE of FL - Brevard Chapter, Sally Bargain Barn & Pawn Shop and the AT&T The Real Yellow Pages.

Brevard Gator Club offers $4,500 in scholarships: The Brevard County Gator Club, with a donation from the Brevard Tropical Fruit Club, has three $1,500 scholarships available to Brevard high school seniors or Brevard County students presently attending the University of Florida as an undergraduate or graduate student.

Students must be entering the fields or be presently enrolled full time in the fields of agricultural or horticultural studies.

The deadline to apply is Nov. 30.
