MARTIN COUNTY -
Art Associates of Martin County presents its November program in conjunction with its monthly meeting on Nov. 12 at St. Mary's Episcopal Church, Smith Hall, 623 E. Ocean Blvd., in Stuart, from 7:30-9 p.m. Guests are welcome to attend.
The meeting will feature "Tools of the Trade" with Robin Lee Makowski, professional artist, illustrator, author and instructor.
Ms. Makowski will show attendees the different artists' materials she uses to create her watercolors and demonstrate the difference between painting on paper, rag board and Aquabord, a clay-coated watercolor substrate that is sealed when completed, eliminating the need for mats and glass.
She will also discuss tools every artist needs to take their work out into the world to try to sell it, and tips for pricing their work in a sketchy market.
Ms. Makowski's experience and information will be of value to artists working in any media, and will entertain and inform anyone interested in art in general.
Ms. Makowski's work is represented locally at Art-Tee-Da Gallery on confusion corner in downtown Stuart, at Elite Salon & Gallery in Hobe Sound and she is very happy to announce she has returned to her old Studio E at the Fish House Art Center in Port Salerno.
She was recently appointed as art studio coordinator at the new Elliott Museum on Hutchinson Island, opening in March 2013, where she will coordinate with instructors and offer a schedule of classes and workshops, including life draw on Wednesdays from 1-4 p.m., beginning March 6, 2013 and a polymer clay workshop on March 8-9.
