VERO BEACH - Bowlers and fans filled 29 lanes at Vero Bowl on Oct. 14 for Indian River Habitat for Humanity's annual "Bowl to Build," which this year raised close to $10,000.
The popular fundraiser supports Habitat's scholarship educational program, which provides Habitat homeowner students with scholarships and other education-based programs.
Again this year, the unbeatable Heritage Bowlers, Don Shield, Bill Shield, Gene Griffin, Bob Twomey and Lonnie Simms, continued their best team streak.
The MMRT Inc. team won the most high fives award; Girard's G Gals took home the most team spirit award and 9-year-old Nicholas Garlini was recognized as youngest player.
Habitat's FY 2013 Community Hero Partner, Girard Equipment, was the event presenting (and goody bag) sponsor.
