Pet clinic slated
There will two low-cost pet shot clinics sponsored by the Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals on Sunday, Nov. 4.
The first clinic will be from 2 to 4 p.m. at Pets 4 Less, Cedar Ridge Plaza, 2235 S. Woodland Blvd., DeLand.
The second clinic will be from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at Auto Zone, 2120 Howland Blvd., Deltona. This is a cash-only clinic.
Proceeds benefit abandoned animals. Donations of dry dog and cat food may be brought to these clinics.

Auction benefits school
The Stetson Baptist Christian School will conduct its annual auction Saturday, Nov. 3, at Stetson Baptist Church at West Minnesota and North Spring Garden avenues in DeLand.
The sale will offer an assortment of items, ranging from home accessories, holiday decorations, toys and shrubbery to weekend getaways, North Carolina mountain vacations and gift certificates for personal services. There will be limited edition and gourmet items, a new home generator and window air conditioner. All sale items are new or gently used, donated by individuals and local businesses in support the school
The sale begins at 7:30 a.m. for those who wish to attend an early-bird breakfast and private silent auction until 8:30 a.m.
Breakfast tickets are on sale at the school office for $6.50 each. They will be $7.50 at the door.
The live auction and additional silent auctions open at 9 a.m. and continue until early afternoon when all items have been sold.

The Duvall Home hosts fundraiser
The Duvall Home's annual fall fundraiser, known as the $10,000 draw down, will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, at the Spring Garden Ranch, DeLeon Springs.
There are several new features on tap for this year: A poker run featuring a stop at the Duvall Home's main campus, the Hemby Brothers Band will be rockin' the stage as the event culminates with VIP motorcycle parking, a classic car show, the traditional games of bingo and poker, a 50/50, food and drinks and the $10,000 draw down.
Tickets are available now and can be purchased in person at the Duvall Home or online at www.duvallhome.org. VIP and drawn down tickets must be purchased in advance and are $125 and $100 and include entry into the $10,000 Drawn down, food and two beverages.
Poker run and general admission tickets are $25 per person in advance or $30 at the event. All tickets include food at the event.
Proceeds from the event enable the Duvall Home to continue to fulfill its mission of providing the highest quality of care and greatest level of independence for 140 adults with developmental disabilities.
Pet Vet Cruiser scheduled
Volusia County's Pet Vet Cruiser offers low-cost spaying and neutering services to residents of unincorporated parts of the county and the cities of DeLand and South Daytona.
The Pet Vet Cruiser will be at Oakbrook Professional Center, 931 S. Spring Garden Ave., DeLand, on Nov. 5, 8, 12, 19 and 27.
Fees are based on income. Appointments are required and may be made by calling (386) 626-6643.

Make pinecone ornaments at the DeLand library
Add outdoor beauty to your home during the holidays with decorated pinecones.
Tammi Stossel, a full-time teacher and part-time crafter, will show adults how to make elegant pinecone ornaments from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 7, at the DeLand Regional Library, at 130 E. Howry Ave.

DeLand library plans book sale Nov. 9 - 10
The Friends of the Library will have its monthly used-book sale from 9:30 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. Friday, Nov. 9, and 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 10, in the DeLand Regional Library auditorium, 130 E. Howry Ave.
A pre-sale will be open for viewing at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 8, and buyers can purchase books at pre-sale prices from 2:30 to 7:15 p.m.
Hardbacks will be sold for $1 each, large paperbacks for 50 cents, and small paperbacks and magazines for 25 cents.

Peripheral Artery Disease screening offered
Florida Hospital Volusia/Flagler is offering the community a free screening to help determine an individual's risk of Peripheral Artery Disease.
Screening dates are
Nov. 4, at Florida Hospital Fish Memorial in Orange City, Nov. 11, at Florida Hospital Memorial Medical Center in Daytona Beach and Nov. 13 at Florida Hospital DeLand.

Fall festival slated
The DeLand Fall Festival of the Arts 2012 event support campaign is in progress.
The event will be held on Saturday, Nov. 17 and Sunday, Nov. 18 in downtown DeLand.
The festival is celebrating its 20th year and attracts more than 50,000 visitors each year during the two-day weekend event. The juried selection of international and national artist with their works will number between 165 and 185 after the selection process.
About $25,000 in artist awards in different categories will be presented by the event judges at the festival.
