VERO BEACH - Yearly memberships to a city recreation facility have been brought back and can save members some cash.
Jeff Matthews, manager of Vero Beach's Leisure Square, said in addition to a la carte and monthly rates for programs and memberships at the city recreation facility, yearly rates are now available.
Leisure Square offers many classes and programs for adults and children throughout the year, from gymnastics to swimming to racketball to yoga.
In an average week, the facilities are shared by individuals doing Pilates, kickboxing, playing basketball and volleyball, belly dancing and practicing martial arts, Mr. Matthews said.
Water aerobics are also quite popular at the facility, especially for seniors because it is a relatively low-impact way of getting exercise.
A year-long, all-inclusive membership for all aspects of the recreation facility is $160.50 for city residents and $214 for county residents.
A monthly, all-inclusive rate for city residents is $21.40 and $26.75 for county residents.
City residents would see a savings of $96.30 with a yearly membership, and county residents would save $107.
Some individuals only wish to use the gym, and the gym-only membership is probably the most popular, Mr. Matthews said.
The monthly gym membership is $10.70 or 16.05, but a yearly membership is $100 or $150, he said.
A monthly calendar of Leisure Square classes and hours is available online.
Leisure Square is located at 3705 16th St., Vero Beach. For more information, call (772) 770-6500 or visit www.covb.org.
