It's 'Rocky Horror' time again
Surfside Playhouse ushers in the Halloween season with the notorious rock 'n' roll musical tribute to 1950s sci-fi/horror B-movies, the "Rocky Horror Picture Show," back for its 11th straight year, directed by Nick Henn.
Your enjoyment of this delightfully skewed movie will be amplified by a shadow cast of highly trained, costumed hecklers guaranteed to thrill you, chill you and fulfill you.

'Creative Movement Dance' for 3-4 year-olds
Creative Movement Dance is designed with young dancers in mind to utilize creativity and imagination.
Creative movement focuses on increasing the student's flexibility, balance and memorization skills, while introducing them to the art of dance. Basic ballet steps are gradually incorporated into each lesson plan.

'Woman in Black' at the Henegar Center
The acclaimed British ghost drama, "The Woman In Black," opens the 20th Season at the Henegar Center for the Arts in the Historic Downtown Melbourne theatre district.
The Henegar production stars local actors Terrence Girard and David M. Robertson.
The play is being staged by guest director Donald Westwood, with sound design by Thom Restivo and lighting by Bryce Niehaus.
"The Woman In Black" features a multi-layered story set in the recent past, with mysterious forays to the 1960s and early 1900s.
Spine-chilling lighting and special effects draw the audience into the haunted world of the principal characters.
The play, written by Stephen Malastratt, is based on the novel by Susan Hill and has enjoyed a run of nearly 25 years in London, where it is still running, making it the second longest-running play in the history of the West End.
The Henegar Center is kicking off the season with a blood drive by Florida Blood Centers. Donate on the Big Red Bus and receive a free ticket to "The Woman In Black."
Keeping with the theme, the Strawbridge Art League is hosting its fall exhibit, Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead), Upstairs @ the Henegar in the "Haunted Hallway."
"The Woman in Black" runs through Oct. 28 on Friday and Saturday evenings at 8 p.m. with a Sunday matinee at 2 p.m. at the Henegar Center for the Arts, 625 E. New Haven Ave., in the Downtown Melbourne Theatre District.

What is the Brevard Theatrical Ensemble?
The Brevard Theatrical Ensemble's storytellers search all year for stories about Florida's historical past.
The events and people involved with the states long history is exciting, funny and sometimes sad, but always entertaining.
For, not only is the state surrounded by water that is enjoyed by tourists, but it has nurtured and produced some of the worlds great events.
The nonprofit ensemble uses these historical facts to bring a frozen moment in time back, so that you can share the common ground on which we all walk.

Local artist featured in solo exhibition
In celebration of National Hispanic Heritage Month, Island Images' Gallery of Hope presents "In Search of the Real Cuba," a compelling exhibition featuring modern-day Cuba by photographic artist and author Dawn Currie, resident of Indian Harbour Beach.
The exhibit will run through Saturday, Oct. 27 at the Gallery of Hope, 2036 14th Avenue in the historic Theatre Plaza in downtown Vero Beach.
Come see images that stir the mind and hear stories that touch the soul. These are the fruits of a physically and mentally challenging two-week trek by the author and artist that spans the island from east to west.
The artist, Dawn Currie, exhibits extensively across the United States and has won multiple awards.

'Under the Harvest Moon' fundraiser at Rockledge Gardens
The Historic Cocoa Village Playhouse will host a "Under the Harvest Moon" fundraiser, Sunday Oct. 28, at 5:30 p.m., at Rockledge Gardens, U.S. Highway 1, Rockledge.
The second fundraiser of its kind, held by the Cocoa Village Playhouse at Rockledge Gardens, the event will include gourmet food from Carrabba's Italian Grill of Merritt Island, with live entertainment by the Cocoa Village Playhouse performers.
Sponsorships are available at $300, $500 and $1,000, with individual tickets starting at $75 and additional discounts for Aladdin Society members.
Proceeds from the event will support the renovation of the playhouse, as well as the Cocoa Village Playhouse STARS Youth Program.

Photo competition and exhibition at the King Center
"All That Art" is a juried photo art competition and exhibition, held at the King Center, and sponsored by The Creative Arts Foundation of Brevard.
Take-in in for photos is Monday, Oct 29 at the King Center Rotunda from 8:30-10 a.m; 62 photos will be selected.
On Monday, Nov. 5, juried photos will be hung for a one-month display in the Harris Gallery in the King Center and at 4 p.m. (same day), a gala with presentation of awards and prizes from $500, $250, $200 and 10 $50 honorable mentions.
You may submit as many as five photos.

Indian River Potters Guild registration open

Art class at Satellite Beach
The Satellite Beach Recreation Department will host a watercolor class 9 a.m. to noon, Tuesdays, Oct. 30 through Dec. 31.
This class is open for any medium, but is designed for the artist, who already has a good working knowledge in their medium of choice.
Critiques will be given in all mediums, including help with composition. Demos will be given in watercolor.
Students are responsible for bringing their own art supplies. A supply list is available at the Art & Antique Studio in Melbourne.
