DELTONA - The city's only skilled nursing home has a new owner intent on sprucing the place up.

Consulate Health Care Services, the fourth-largest nursing home operator in the country, recently negotiated the purchase of the facility and plans $1 million of improvements.

Already, wi-fi has been added for residents, said Laurice Elgin, the center's admissions and marketing director, as well as new electronic beds for nearly all of the center's 120 residents.

Then, early next year, new paint, plastering, furniture and landscaping will go in.

"That's going to be a total renovation to make it more beautiful," Ms.Elgin said. "It's a nice building as it is, but it's older, so it does need some work."

Deltona Health Care is at 1851 Elkcam Blvd. Call (386) 789-3769 for information.
