VERO BEACH - The Vero Beach recreation department will present the 54th annual Halloween parade and costume contest sponsored by Mulligan's Grille and Raw Bar and the Treasure Coast Women's Club on Oct. 27.
The line-up will start at 9:30 a.m.at the Freshman Learning Center. The parade will start promptly at 10 a.m. and travel north on 14th Avenue to the Vero Beach Community Center next to Pocahontas Park.
The costume contest will begin immediately following the parade. To enter the contest, pick up a number at the Vero Beach Community Center or at the Freshman Learning Center.
Every child will get a chance to showcase their costumes on the very spooky stage. Every child who comes to the Vero Beach Community Center with or without a costume will receive a free goody bag.
The contest will take place inside the Vero Beach Community Center. Prizes will be awarded to the most outstanding costumes. Everyone is encouraged to dress up, however the costume contest is for children ages 0-17.
Those interested in participating in the parade can show up in costume at the Freshman Learning Center. To enter a float, walking group or a vehicle, pick up a parade application at the Vero Beach Community Center or visit www.covb.org and go to the recreation page. There is no entry fee.
The corporate sponsor, Mulligan's Beach House Bar & Grill,will have a family fun Halloween party Oct. 25 at 5 p.m. There will be a costume contest. Kids eat free with purchase of adult entrée. Kids can dress up in costume and all kids will win a prize. There will be face painting and balloons.
