New Smyrna Beach
Pepperidge Farm distributor
Q. What do you see as the biggest issue for the office you are seeking?
A. The biggest issue facing Volusia County District 3 is the economic atmosphere. I want to help create a business-friendly environment that spurs confidence in our local markets. I want to remove barriers to entry and encourage small businesses to thrive. I'll do this by seeking to lower taxes, waive impact fees, streamline permitting and reduce bureaucracy.
Q. What are your qualifications for the office you are seeking?
A. For the past 18 years I have served New Smyrna Beach as a city commissioner, including five years as vice mayor. I have served as president of the Volusia League of Cities and in every other office that organization has. I have served on the Florida League of Cities Board of Directors and multiple committees. I served eight years in the U.S. Army Reserves, earning the rank of captain.
Q. If you win, what's the first issue you will tackle?
A. We must go full-bore into creating an economically friendly environment to encourage new businesses to open, current businesses to expand, and citizens to have the confidence in their government to create new jobs and grow our tax base.
Q. If you lose, will you continue in politics?
A. I believe when the people speak, candidates should listen. If I lose, I will graciously bow out of politics and be thankful for the opportunity to have served my community for the past 18 years.
