Sport fishing seminar planned
The next presentation for the Halifax Sport Fishing Club Seminar Series is Thursday, Oct. 18,
In anticipation of the fifth annual surf fishing tournament in early November, the club will welcome Larry Finch as the featured speaker.
Mr. Finch is one of Florida's premier surf and inshore anglers, with more than 40 years experience.
He plans on showcasing pompano and whiting as the focus species, although the by catch species can commonly include bluefish, flounder, redfish, drum, sheepshead and ladyfish.
He also will be discussing the importance of bait and location in maximizing the enjoyment and success of beach fishing and plans on taking the audience from catching and prepping natural baits like sand fleas and blue crab all the way to discussing feeding areas and how to find places in the water where fish usually feed.
A highlight of the program will include proper tackle and equipment as well as casting techniques.
