Members of the VFW Post 4250 Honor Guard salute as an American flag burns during a flag retirement ceremony at the post on Oct. 7. The post regularly retires 8,000-10,000 American flags with four retirement ceremonies each year. The post is also one of a few in the Southeast Volusia County that has the capabilities of proper flag retirement. Flags can be dropped off at the post located at 2350 Sunset Drive, New Smyrna Beach.
