MARTIN COUNTY -
Adult students who would like to earn their high school credentials by taking and passing the general educational development exam have until the end of 2013 to do so with the current version of the test.
Beginning on Jan. 2, 2014, the new version of the GED test will be in effect. This means anyone who has taken, but not yet passed, all five sections of the GED by the end of 2013, will have to start the testing process over using the new version of the test in order to receive high school credentials.
"The GED test can open doors to college and better jobs, as well as lead to the personal satisfaction test takers receive by earning a high school credential," said Elia R. Parsons, adult education coordinator of the Martin County School District.
"We want to ensure that everyone is aware of this deadline, so that they can complete the process prior to the new test taking effect."
The Martin County School District operates the following Adult Learning Centers, which are available to help adult learners prepare for the GED test: JD Parker Family Learning Center: (772) 219-1296, Ext. 175; Indiantown Adult Learning Center: (772) 597-3848 and Hobe Sound Family Center: (772) 221-4908.
