MARTIN COUNTY -
The seventh annual Meal or No Meal dinner for House of Hope will feature old favorites, new fund-raisers and a mystery speaker.
The event is scheduled Nov. 3 at 6 p.m. at St. Mary's Pittenger Center, 701 S.E. Ocean Blvd., in Stuart.
Reservations are $100 per person, and all proceeds benefit House of Hope, which provides food, clothing, financial assistance and case- management services to residents in need.
Meal or No Meal will feature live music by the St. Joseph School jazz band, photography on sale from local professionals, a drawing for a $1,000 travel gift certificate, auction items and an inspiring guest speaker.
Dinner is presented by volunteers, many of whom prepare the free meals at local community kitchens each night of the week. The event has little overhead, so guests can be confident in knowing they are directly helping people in the community who are striving to overcome hunger and hardship.
The co-chairwomen are Meg Rogers and Sue Whittington. Presenting sponsor is the Joseph C. Day Foundation.
