'Rocky Horror Picture Show' at Surfside
"Let's Do The Time Warp Again!" Surfside Playhouse ushers in the Halloween season with the notorious rock 'n' roll musical tribute to 1950s sci-fi/horror B-movies, back for its 11th straight year.
Your enjoyment of this delightfully skewed movie will be amplified by a shadow cast of highly trained, costumed hecklers guaranteed to thrill you, chill you, and fulfill you.
Auditions for the shadow cast of "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" will be held on Sunday, Sept. 30 at 7 p.m. at the Surfside Playhouse, 301 Ramp Road, (take Highway A1A to South Fifth Street, Cocoa Beach).
This will primarily be a dance audition, so dress appropriately.
All auditioners will be asked to lip-sync / pantomime to a section of Madonna's "Like a Virgin."
Anyone auditioning to be the "Master of Ceremonies" will also be asked to perform a comic monologue from memory, no longer than one minute, and preferably delivered in the character they would like to use in the role.
Due to the nature of the show, auditioners younger than 18 require parent/guardian consent.
The director, Nick Henn, wishes auditions to be an enjoyable process for everyone involved.
Rehearsal dates will be Sundays (time TBD) and Thursdays (10 p.m.), Oct. 7, 11, 14 and 18. Cast members are expected to be available for all of those dates (and the performances). Actors will purchase or create their own costume before opening night. Actors' call will be 11 p.m. on performance nights.
Performance nights are Fridays and Saturdays, Oct. 19-27, at 11:59 p.m.
Tickets cost $10 for general admission, and are available at the box office at (321) 783-3127 or through the new online ticketing at www.surfsideplayers.com.
CAUTION: Mature audiences only. Contains strong language and adult themes, and the movie is rated R for violence and sexual situations. Presented by special arrangement with Criterion Pictures.
