PORT ST. LUCIE -
The Friends of Savannas Preserve State Park is inviting all park visitors to enter its annual photo contest. The emphasis of the photographs should be showing native species, natural landscapes and people enjoying the Savannas.
Entries will be accepted from Oct. 1-28 at the Savannas Preserve Education Center, 2541 Walton Road in Port St. Lucie.
Categories for adults and under-18 are: birds, landscape, trees and plants, critters and pollinators, people enjoying the park and digitally enhanced.
Entry fees are $5 for adults and $3 for under 18.
Photographs will be judged by an award-winning, professional photographer. Ribbons will be awarded to first-, second- and third-places in each category, as well as a cash prize to the winner for best in show.
All awards will be announced at a reception for all photographers in the Education Center on Nov. 4 at the 5 p.m. reception. Entrants need not be present to win.
Photographs will be on display in the Education Center during November. Between Oct. 29 and Nov. 3, members of the Friends of Savannas Preserve State Park may vote for the people's choice award. Only those whose memberships are current during that week will be eligible to vote in this category.
Membership registration forms are available at the Education Center.
