More crossword puzzle problems
I guess you made the crosswords bigger for some of us seniors with bad eyes, and that would include me, I guess; but I don't like it the way it is one single bit.
It was much easier to work on the other way.
The paper is so large now, that when I'm sitting down, I need a large book or something else to work on the crossword, and I find it very inconvenient, but I guess you are trying to please everybody.
Go to it, and I will try to struggle along.
Be ashamed, or be responsible
If you don't have health insurance, you should pay a tax or penalty.
Who cares what you call it! If you have an accident or get sick and can't afford the bill, someone has to pay. Is it fair those who have insurance, then pay for you through higher premiums?
You should be ashamed to put that burden on responsible citizens.
Dog rave
My chocolate lab, "Dixie," is 6 years old and overweight.
She also had a problem, so I took her to a veterinarian at Bayside Lakes.
We saw a doctor. I told her about my accident and (how I) was unable to walk very far.
"Dixie" was not getting to walk as she needed to loose weight.
Later that week, her assistant called me to say she and the doctor would walk "Dixie" once a week for me.
I was so happy to hear this. What a wonderful veterinarian who cares.
I want to say thank you to you and your staff.
Animals and people
First, I need to make a correction to my "Response to 'Mortgage People'" rant that appeared in August.
It should say that I'm a member of two charities, not three.
I am a lifetime member of Amnesty International and People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals. However, I also work with 19 other groups, mainly in human rights and animals rights. I am proud to say that I will be a career activist until the day I die.
Second, to those of you who wrote in support of Chick-fil-A, I wonder if you would feel the same if they came out against interracial marriage?
The fact is that gay marriage doesn't affect heterosexual marriage at all. And don't try to use the Bible to justify your hate, because the Bible has been twisted to justify everything from slavery to denying women the right to vote.
The fact is that God made me in his image, and I have every right to marry the girl I love.
Stop the 'free housing'
I consider "Section 8 Housing" to be "free housing" for most of the people involved.
These houses are rented in very desirable locations, and not advising the owners that this will be happening is wrong.
The people living there should be told, because now there are gang members, drug users, criminals, people who do not work because they feel they are entitled to this support, pedophiles, sex abusers, etc., living near them.
Some of these were in our area at one time. They live and shop in our area, break into our houses and steal from us.
The people on assistance generally pay about 1/3 of the rent, and the government pays the rest. What happens is the family unit of four all of a sudden becomes a family unit of 10.
These extra people now pay rent and let us say it is $100 per month.
If the original owners paid $300, they have now gotten their money back, plus an extra $300.
I guess this is how they can drive expensive cars, have a lawn service, buy expensive clothing, shoes and purses, get their nails done, eat at fast food restaurants, etc.
The average homeowner, with a family unit of four, cannot afford to do this unless there are two people working.
People who work and have good ethics do not want entitlement. They want to support themselves. This "free housing" has to stop and it starts with the government.
Who buys the most from whom?
This is to the people who complain about buying things made in China.
China buys more stuff from the U.S.A. than the U.S.A. buys from China when it is measured in dollars; and we need people to trade with.
So they need to do a little research and figure it all out.
Cigarettes should be outlawed
Everybody now knows how bad and addicting cigarettes are to the human body. It will kill you.
So, why are cigarettes still around? Why are they still legal? Why? Because of certain parties that keep it legal; and they are called lobbyists.
And these lobbyists who keep tobacco legal should all be thrown in jail with the key tossed down the toilet, because that's what they are doing to thousands of lives - tossing them down the toilet by killing them with their cigarettes that are so bad for you that they should be outlawed.
