Children's triathlon scheduled for Sept. 30

BREVARD - For the second time this year, Space Coast Youth Multi-Sports will host the Sunrise Series Kid's Triathlon Health and Wellness Festival Sunday, Sept. 30, at Gleason Park in Indian Harbour Beach.
"Our last event was held on April 29, and our goal is to promote family health and wellness in our community and beyond," said Vanessa Ziade, founder of Space Coast Youth Multi-Sports. "We invite sponsors and vendors to participate in this event and future events to promote health, wellness and fitness in our community and beyond."
Ms. Ziade said each race helps a different beneficiary. In April, the raffle raised a $400 donation for NANA's house, and, this year, portions of proceeds will be used to help fund the South Brevard Women's Center's "Girls, Adolescence, Independence and Achievement camp.
Ms. Ziade said the event promotes an interesting way of staying fit.
"The event brings community awareness to the unique, fun and exciting sport of youth triathlons for kids of all ages," she said. "Kids learn about three different sports and then combine those three sports into one event."
Ms. Ziade said Space Coast Youth Multi-Sports provides youth of all ages the opportunity to participate in a variety of multi-sport activities, including a youth triathlon training club and private fitness training program and private and semi-private swimming and surfing lessons for all ages, in addition to the annual Sunrise Series Kid's Triathlon.
The event is for ages 5-14, and is a USA Triathlon sanctioned event. All participants must be USAT members. The event is limited to the first 100 athletes to sign up. There will be post-race refreshments and goodie bags for all participants, and medals will be given to the top three male and females in each age group, with completion ribbons for all.
The Sunrise Series Kid's Triathlon Health and Wellness Festival is from 7 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
