Hysterectomies on the east coast of Central Florida

Congratulations to Dr. Carlos Salup, a MIMA gynecologist, for having been recently recognized as performing the most benign da Vinci Hysterectomies on the East Coast of Central Florida, covering Flagler, Volusia, Brevard and Indian River counties.

Within the last year da Vinci has allowed Dr. Salup to treat a broader range of patients with this minimally invasive procedure.

Da Vinci's robotic surgery makes what was difficult to achieve by standard 'open' technique, not only possible, but extends the surgeon's capability several fold.

If you are a patient or know someone who might benefit from a robotic approach to their surgery, or if you would like to discuss RAS as an option, Dr. Salup can answer your questions regarding this treatment option.

For more information, call (321) 725-4500, Ext. 3228 or visit www.mima.com.

Make-A-Wish Foundation grants camper trailer to 15-year-old

Recently, 15-year-old Nicholas Pollock received his wish to have a camper trailer at Giant Recreation World in Melbourne.

Nicholas chose this wish because he wants to go camping with his family, like they once did.

Nicholas and his family love to go camping, but since his diagnosis of a brain tumor in November 2011, their lives have changed. It's been mostly hospital stays with surgery, chemotherapy and radiation.

Patrick White, sales manager with Giant Recreation World of Melbourne, provided a generous discount to Make-A-Wish to help grant Nicolas' Wish.

Since 1994, Make-A-Wish of Central and Northern Florida has granted more than 4,000 wishes, inspiring children, volunteers and others to believe in the power of a wish.

You can share the power of a wish by visiting www.wishcentral.org.

Refer your child, make a donation, spread the word, give your unused frequent flier miles, help the Make-A-Wish Foundation bridge the gap. Learn how at wish.org.
