PORT ST. LUCIE - A Port St. Lucie man was arrested after a woman reported her boyfriend choked and sexually assaulted her and put her in a closet, according to an arrest affidavit.

Oren Keith, 42, 2701 S.W. Tolley Court, Port St. Lucie, who has an extensive arrest record, was arrested Aug. 30 and charged with attempted murder, sexual assault, felony battery, aggravated battery and false imprisonment.

The arrest came after the woman told police after an argument she "attempted to leave the residence, but was grabbed from behind, around the neck and forced to the ground. Mr. Keith sat on top of her and continued to choke, punch her about her facial area, pulled her hair and slammed her head into the floor several times," the report said.

"He (Mr. Keith) stated words to the effect he was going to kill her and/or she was going to die. She recalls her 8-year-old son coming from his room to see what was going on and she directed him to go to the neighbor's house to get assistance," the report said.

"At this time, according to (the woman), Mr. Keith threatened the child, who returned to his room. (The) victim described being choked, which caused her to lose bladder control and ultimately consciousness," the report said.

The woman told police she woke up and was in a closet.

During the next day, the woman was kept in the closet part of the time. While Mr. Keith was at work, she could not get out of the closet, she told police.

Finally, she was able to contact police when Mr. Keith left to get her son, who was in the hospital because of illness, the report said.

When Mr. Keith showed up at a hospital, he was arrested, the affidavit said.

It also said the woman suffered a concussion and the other child corroborated what the woman said about Mr. Keith choking her.

Mr. Keith initially told police he accidentally hit the woman in her face with his elbow, but later added that he pushed her face into a wall.

The affidavit noted that Mr. Keith has a criminal record with 44 arrests, including 13 felony convictions and 15 misdemeanor convictions.

It said he's been arrested on charged including kidnapping, aggravated rape and violation of probation.
