MARTIN COUNTY -
Riverfront Kayaks/Tri-Athletica Sports, the Treasure Coast's newest kayaking and triathlon adventure store, will celebrate its grand opening from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sept. 15.
The company is offering products and supplies for kayak, running, swimming, cycling and adventure enthusiasts at special prices plus door prizes and surprises.
"Many of our vendors are contributing door prizes and other special items to make this a fun-filled, bargain day for those who enjoy the great outdoors, whether it's on the water, cycling our local byways or running in our scenic neighborhoods," said Sebastian LaHara, co-owner.
Specials include 10 percent off specialized brand cycles with several of the popular SHIV models in stock, H2O Overdrive recovery drinks will be sampling product, Newton shoes will feature a raffle give-a-way with sunglasses, kayak tours and rentals, a cruiser bike and a number of other items included.
Club Med representatives will have a registration tent to sign up participants for their upcoming Sept. 23 triathlon at a discounted rate.
"We also plan to have Kyle Jackson, the Port St. Lucie resident who is attempting to become the first person ever to paddle a kayak from Florida to the Bahamas on hand to sign autographs and pose for photos. Food, beverages and a good time is planned as well, so we look forward to seeing our friends from throughout the Treasure Coast at our grand opening gala," said Mr. LaHara.
The store has returned to its original waterfront location at 417 S. Federal Highway in Stuart and acquired additional space to house an expanded stock of kayaks, shoes, bikes and clothing. They now carry a complete line of kayaks, fishing kayaks, stand-up paddleboards, high- performance cycles and cycling equipment, running gear and running shoes. Bicycle and kayak repairs are available, as well.
The company will offer bicycle, kayak and fishing kayak and stand-up paddle board rentals, as well as demonstration rides for those considering getting into the sport.
Single and double kayaks will be available for half- and full-day rentals for touring the North Fork of the St. Lucie River. Fishing kayaks complete with anchor and bait bucket will also be available for rent.
Other kayak-specific events and other activities will be offered in the upcoming months, as well as partnering with area bed and breakfasts and hotels to offer special visitor packages.
