INDIAN RIVER COUNTY - The Indian River County Health Department and Indian River County HIV/AIDS Awareness Network are sponsoring the fourth annual HIV/AIDS symposium: "Teach One, Reach One," on Sept. 18, from 8:30 a.m.-noon at the Vero Beach Community Center, 2266 14th Ave., Vero Beach.
This event is designed to help raise awareness on how the global HIV/AIDS epidemic affects local communities. Presenters will provide information on issues related to HIV/AIDS and a discussion panel will follow to talk about how these issues affect the county.
Additionally, the event will have free breakfast for attendees, free HIV testing and local vendors.
"This is a great opportunity to get educated about HIV/AIDS and help prevent the spread of the human immunodeficiency virus" said Miranda Hawker, Indian River County Health Department administrator.
Getting information out there and increasing awareness throughout the community is what "Teach One, Reach One" is all about. For more information or to register for this event, call (772) 794-7477 or email john_may@doh.state.fl.us.
