TREASURE COAST -

The Boy Scouts of America, Gulf Stream Council, will present an inaugural, council-wide car wash on Sept. 15.

More than 75 separate Boy Scout troops, Cub Scout packs, Venture Crews (co-ed) and Sea Scouts Ships (co-ed) will host their unit "Car Wash for Scouting" event at numerous locations throughout Palm Beach, Martin, St. Lucie, Indian River, Okeechobee and Hendry counties.

The Gulf Stream Council serves almost 10,000 scouts and 3,000 adult volunteers representing seven districts in south Florida from Boca Raton to Vero Beach and around Lake Okeechobee.

The council also maintains and runs three scout camps including Dark Hammock, Oklawaha and Tanah Keeta Scout Reservation located on 640 acres in Tequesta.

"By all units participating in their Scout uniforms for the car wash event on the same day, it will help promote increased public awareness of Scouting in our communities," said Mark Luttier, council president.

All proceeds will go directly to support the scouting programs of the Gulf Stream Council.

Since 1910, the Boy Scouts of America has helped mold the future leaders of this country by combining educational activities and lifelong values with fun.

Scouting helps build character, promotes responsible citizenship, respect for the outdoors and develops personal fitness.
