Douglas and Ruth Thomas, celebrated their 72nd wedding anniversary on Sept. 1.
The DeLand couple marked the occasion with their family -- daughter Vicki Ashton; niece, Rennae Bludsworth, their grandsons, Doug Hampshire and James Hampshire with his wife Judy; and their great grandson, Jim Hampshire. Their great-grandson Randy Hampson was not able to attend as he is serving active submarine duty in the U.S. Navy.
Mr. Thomas not only shares the joy of being with his long time sweetheart and wife but this year was honored by being inducted into the Navy Fire & Emergency Services Hall of Fame.
