ST. LUCIE COUNTY -
The Humane Society of St. Lucie County wants the community to know that kittens, many of whom suffer respiratory issues in their early days, benefit from the use of nebulizers to open their airways and recovery quickly from colds.
The society will accept used or unused nebulizers to assist the felines while they recover in foster homes, even if the device has reached its expiration date.
Cats and kittens housed at the society's shelter are often in contact with other cats. They can also be stressed from their circumstances, and these issues make catching colds more likely.
When placed in foster homes, the cats or kittens recover quickly, are placed for adoption and, luckily, find their forever homes. However, cats or kittens that are ill cannot be placed for adoption. Nebulizers go a long way in helping these wonderful pets recover from an upper respiratory infection.
Nebulizers may be dropped off at the Humane Society of St. Lucie County, 100 Savannah Road, Fort Pierce.
For questions about donating nebulizers, call (772) 461-0687 and ask for Jackie.
