SATELLITE BEACH - Two Satellite Beach residents have qualified for the vacant mayor seat in the upcoming fall election.
Frank Catino and Trevor Lowing will appear on the November ballot in the General Election. Current Mayor Joseph Ferrante chose not to seek reelection.
Basic information about the candidates is as follows:
Frank P. Catino
. Age: 59
. City: Satellite Beach
. Years as resident: 50+
. Occupation: Sales manager/tackle representative and fishing guide
. Education: Brevard Community College/University of Florida
. Organizations affiliated with: Brevard 4H, the Backcountry Fly Fishing Club, Satellite High School Baseball Volunteer Coaching Staff and the Loyal Order of Moose
. Marital status: Married to Linda Catino
. Number of children: three children; three grandchildren
. In 100 words, explain what makes you the best candidate for mayor of Satellite Beach: "Living in Satellite Beach for over 50 years, attending local schools, committing to raise my family here and my extensive community service record make me the most qualified candidate for Mayor. My priorities will be to maintain the city services our residents want, find additional sources of revenue to help fund those services, increase our tab base to lower property taxes, create a business-friendly environment to attract new environmentally clean businesses, make plans for funding infrastructure maintenance and upgrades and pursuing grant funds to offset city costs. To accomplish these goals, I would appreciate your vote on Nov. 6."

. Years as resident: eight
. Occupation: Senior planner for Lockheed Martin Space Systems
. Education: Bachelor of Science in business management from the University of Maryland-College Park in College Park, Md.; master of Business Administration from Florida Tech in Melbourne.
. Marital status: Married to Janie Lowing
. Number of children: Three
. In 100 words, explain what makes you the best candidate for mayor of Satellite Beach: "I have a proven track record as an MBA graduate and certified project manager. My 25 years of experience in the U.S. Navy and corporate world has given me the knowledge to get the job done. My wife and my three kids, attending local public schools, provide me extra motivation. In council meetings, I have demonstrated how technology can make government more open, efficient and accessible. As your mayor, I promise a commitment to ethical leadership and teamwork, integrity and openness. Residents will be encouraged to share their vision for the city. Business owners will feel welcome in our town."
To decide on the next mayor of Satellite Beach, voters may head to the polls for the General Election on Nov. 6.
