ST. LUCIE COUNTY - This summer, the John Carroll High School yearbook staff attended the YearbookPalooza convention hosted by Herff Jones in Orlando.
Forty schools, with more than 300 high school students, participated in the annual conference, including 18 JCHS students.
John Carroll earned the highest award achievable, the first place in the "Overall Theme Competition."
Diana Lanza earned third place in the "Overall Photography Competition."
Additionally, John Carroll annually submits its yearbook to the National Scholastic Press Association for review and this year earned the distinction "All American" for its work on the 2012 yearbook, Braving the Current.
To enter the competition, students sent a brief explanation of the book's theme and relative details regarding the document, awaiting the extensive critique on various criteria and a corresponding designation.
"Needless to say, the staff is thrilled, and I am exceptionally proud of all their hard work," said Corey Collins, the yearbook's advisor and John Carroll teacher.
