INDIAN RIVER COUNTY - Jacob Lopez was appointed as the new patient access director at Indian River Medical Center.
Most recently, Mr. Lopez was the patient access manager for Palmetto General Hospital in Hialeah. He has more than 22 years of experience in patient access.
Mr. Lopez and his team at IRMC are working toward creating a centralized scheduling department and developing an admission/discharge/
transfer center that is projected to be in place in the coming months.
"The future of IRMC is extremely bright. These are exciting times and we have a strong and outstanding administrative team supporting us," Mr. Lopez said.
The function of the patient access department at IRMC is to streamline the admitting process for patients, while at the same time, gather accurate patient information and make sure the physician's order and diagnosis match the criteria that is required by Medicare and private insurance companies so claims are submitted appropriately.
IRMC's patient access areas encompass the emergency department, main admitting, lab express and scheduling.
