What is the Brevard Theatrical Ensemble?
The Brevard Theatrical Ensemble's storytellers search all year for stories about Florida's historical past.
The events and people involved with the states long history is exciting, funny and sometimes sad, but always entertaining.
For, not only is the state surrounded by water that is enjoyed by tourists, but it has nurtured and produced some of the worlds great events.
The nonprofit ensemble uses these historical facts to bring a frozen moment in time back, so that you can share the common ground on which we all walk.
This year's production starts in the world of 1513 and continues with events and people who assisted in developing the state:

These are just a few of the stories told by master tellers in costumes of the time and live music to enhance the evening performances.

Art Gallery of Viera invites you the reception of its newest art show, "Something to Talk About ... art with a message," on Saturday, Sept. 8 from 6-9 p.m.
This promises to be a fascinating show, giving local artists a chance to speak their minds through their art. Come see what they have to say!

The gallery's creative director and digital artist Jerry Hanzl will create an interactive collage of this event as it unfolds. Gallery guests will be invited to be photographed and become part of this exciting real time piece of art.

Pen and ink techniques, watercolors, basic art skills, open studio at Art Gallery of Viera
During the basic pen and ink techniques class at the Art Gallery of Viera, students will learn about and experiment with line and shading techniques in pen and ink to create the illusion of form, texture and value.
Using only a simple pen, the variety of expression is endless.
In addition, students learn how to incorporate other media, such as watercolor and colored pencil and work with "quick and dirty" sketching to more finished renderings.
The classes will be Thursdays, 10 a.m. to noon or 6-8 p.m., Sept. 6-27.
Cost is $75 for four weeks.
. Each week of a watercolor class will focus on a new aspect of painting with watercolor, including basic drawing, color mixing, washes, wet into wet, dry brush, using other materials for texture and more at the Art Gallery of Viera.
The class will be Tuesday 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. beginning Sept. 4, and Thursdays evenings from 5-8 p.m., beginning Oct. 4.
Cost is $80 per four weeks, paid in advance or $25 per session. A materials list will be supplied with registration and payment.
The "Adventures in Art" class at the Art Gallery of Viera will introduce children to basic art skills through a variety of fun projects, while experimenting with mediums, such as watercolor, paper maché, collage and printmaking. All materials are provided. The class is for ages 6-10 and will be held Sundays, 1-2:30 p.m.
Cost is $75 for four weeks or $25 per session.
. 'Watercolor For Teens' at the Art Gallery of Viera will focus each week on a new aspect of painting with watercolor, including basic drawing, color mixing, washes, dry brush, using other materials for texture and more. All supplies including paint, brushes and paper will be provided.
The classes will be Sundays, 3-5 p.m. for five weeks, Sept. 2-30.
Cost is $100, plus a $35 materials fee.
. 'Open studio' is an ongoing drawing class with demonstrations in perspective, watercolor, colored pencil and pen and ink, as needed or requested.
Students may work on their own projects with direction or participate in the ongoing drawing class Saturdays 1-3 p.m.
Cost is $60 for four weeks, or $20 per individual week.

Quilting, doodling, design classes at Art Gallery of Viera
. Create truly artistic quilts by learning free motion quilting Saturdays, Sept. 8 and 22, 10 a.m. to noon at the Art Gallery of Viera.
These classes teach the basic skills to make machine quilting successful, artistic and fun.
A sewing machine with a free motion or darning foot is required.
Cost is $20 per class. An optional kit is available for each class, or you can bring your own supplies.
. Free Motion Doodling class is Sept. 8, 10 a.m. to noon at the gallery.
Learn how to achieve the correct tension, how to move the fabric and play with easy designs.
Cost is $20. An optional kit includes all but thread for $10 more.
. Quilt your Fabric Design class is Sept. 22, 10 a.m. to noon at the gallery.
Using a large print fabric or panel, you'll learn to follow the motif for very creative quilting.
Cost is $20. (Optional kit includes everything, including thread for $15.)

Would you like to direct a play?
Due to circumstances, Surfside Players is seeking a new director for the 11th annual production of the "Rocky Horror Picture Show.
The musical tribute to sci-fi and horror B-movies will be screened, with shadow cast, on Oct. 19-27, Friday and Saturday for two weekends.
Deadline for application is Wednesday, Sept. 5.
