MARTIN COUNTY - A man was arrested last week after another man was shot in the arm, authorities said.
Anthony Leonard James Ludovico, 21, 31210 Hartman Road, San Antonio, Fla., was arrested Aug. 12 and charged with aggravated battery.
Witnesses told Martin County deputies Mr. Ludovico came outside of his residence and approached Michael Lauderdale, the shooting victim, an arrest affidavit said.
Mr. Ludovico then shot a gun in the air, pointed it at Mr. Lauderdale's face and then shot him in the arm, witnesses told deputies.
The shooting was apparently preceded by an altercation earlier between the two men, the report said.
Mr. Ludovico told deputies the earlier altercation started after he thought Mr. Lauderdale was going to steal something from a boat belonging to a friend.
However, nothing was reported stolen from the boat and Mr. Lauderdale was not charged with any theft.
Sometime later, Mr. Ludovico noticed someone was shining lights into his residence, prompting him to go outside to investigate, the affidavit said.
But, at the time, Mr. Lauderdale was near a street and was away from the residence, posing no threat to Mr. Ludovico, the arrest affidavit said.
