JENSEN BEACH - If you happen to be lounging around Jensen Beach, Shuckers is an elegant retreat out of the sun and into the ac that you're just walking distance from.
As the only place to eat on the water between Jupiter and Fort Pierce, Shuckers is attached to the Island Beach Resort in Jensen Beach.
With outside seating, this restaurant can accommodate about 350 people and is equipped with a fully stocked tiki bar. The bar area has three TVs great for catching your favorite football or baseball game no matter what the season.
Shuckers is a restaurant with a reputation for fresh seafood, large portions and exceptional service. A recent trip to Shuckers proved that this is one Jensen Beach restaurant that hasn't lost its touch.
The menu has an extensive list of starters, featuring a raw bar. Many items on the raw bar can come either hot or cold. The raw bar combo features clams, oysters and shrimp.
The conch chowder was a perfect mixture of conch, vegetables and spices leaving your taste buds yearning for more.
Main entrée portions lived up to expectations. The filet mignon was large in size and came with three large red potatoes and a steamed vegetable medley. It was extremely flavorful and very tender.
The mahi mahi entrée came with two full-size filets, three large red potatoes and a steamed vegetable medley. The mahi was juicy and cooked to perfection.
This is a restaurant that not only pays close attention to taste and atmosphere, but also to the service each waiter delivers. Glasses were never empty, finished plates were never left on tables and food was delivered at the correct temperatures.
Restaurant manager Mike Laflamme said that over the years, things have changed, but quality has always remained the same.
"It's simple. Good food, good service, good facility," Mr. Laflamme said.
Shuckers features entertainment on most nights of the week. Most notable are trivia night on Mondays from 7-9 and live entertainment from 2-6 Saturdays and Sundays on the tiki deck.
