New regional vice president Life Care region

Life Care Centers of America recently appointed Eric McKinney as regional vice president of its Palmetto Region.

In this position, McKinney is responsible for overseeing seven skilled nursing and rehabilitation centers in Florida.

The Palmetto Region is one of four regions within Life Care's Southeast Division.

Prior to his time at Life Care Center of Melbourne, he was executive director at Life Care's Lakeside Health Care Center in West Palm Beach. He has eight years of experience in long-term care.

Originally from Cape Coral, Mr. McKinney earned his master's degree in hospital administration and his bachelor's degree in political science from the University of Florida. He and his wife, Liz, live in Melbourne.

NASA selects contracts for environmental remediation services

NASA has selected three companies to provide architect and engineering professional environmental remediation services at Kennedy Space Center, the adjacent Cape Canaveral Air Force Station and other NASA locations.

The combined maximum potential value for the three contracts is $91 million. Services will be performed during a five-year period beginning this year.

The companies selected are Geosyntec Consultants of Boca Raton, Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. of Cape Canaveral and Tetra Tech of Pittsburgh.

Under the contract, the three companies will compete for fixed-price work orders to develop and implement contamination assessment and remediation requirements for Resource Conservation and Recovery Act sites and petroleum contamination for NASA at Kennedy and Cape Canaveral Air Force Station.

Rocket and aerospace technology company brings corporate headquarters to Space Coast

The Economic Development Commission of Florida's Space Coast, Enterprise Florida, city of Titusville, Space Florida, and Titusville-Cocoa Airport Authority have announced that Rocket Crafters, a Utah-based corporation that holds licenses for advanced hybrid rocket and aerospace composite technologies, as well as proprietary hybrid rocket design and analysis software, will relocate to Titusville.

The company plans to develop and commercialize a new hybrid rocket propulsion technology and leverage an ultra-lightweight, advanced composite material to manufacture dual-propulsion sub-orbital space planes.

Rocket Crafters is focused on space flight training and commercializing the enabling technologies required for the future sub-orbital new space opportunities for both commercial and military applications.

Rocket Crafters will invest $72 million to support operations at the Space Coast Regional Airport in Titusville. At full employment, the company's total economic impact is estimated to be more than $48 million.

The company was awarded a State of Florida Qualified Target Industry Tax Refund and workforce incentives to offset the costs of location, production equipment and infrastructure.

The EDC and its project partners worked closely with the company to demonstrate the competitive advantages of locating in Brevard County and developed a competitive proposal outlining the tax advantages and skilled labor pool.

March of Dimes Florida chapter names division director

March of Dimes has announced that Gregory C. Stephens has joined the Florida chapter as division director. He will be based out of the Space Coast Division Office in Melbourne.

Mr. Stephens' responsibilities will be to position the March of Dimes as the leader in maternal and child health with key decision makers throughout Brevard County.

His first priority will be to mobilize a team of volunteers to organize a division board that will effectively execute fundraising activities and implement educational programs.

Mr. Stephens has a wealth of nonprofit knowledge and seven years of experience as the area executive director for the American Cancer Society in Brevard.

In his role at the American Cancer Society, he successfully increased revenue by 72 percent and was a three-time recipient of the "Chairman's Cup," the highest area achievement award.

Mr. Stephens served in the United States Army as a medical specialist. He is a member with L.E.A.D Brevard Class of 2007.

Brevard Zoo hires new human resources director

Brevard Zoo has announced that Jacklin Fisher has been hired as the new human resources director for the Zoo. Ms. Fisher will be responsible for managing the Zoo's recruiting, compliance and employee relations.

Ms. Fisher's professional experience includes working in human resources for Mercedes Homes, Motive Learning, and most recently, Percepta.

She is a certified senior professional in human resources and a local and national member of the Society for Human Resource Management. She is also the immediate past president of the American Society for Training & Development's Space Coast Chapter.

Ms. Fisher has a Master of Arts degree in human resource management from Webster University. She lives in the Suntree area with her husband, two sons, and chihuahua, "Gizmo."

Wuesthoff names chief executive officer

Wuesthoff Health System CEO Steve Patonai has named Tim Cerullo the chief executive officer of Wuesthoff Medical Center - Rockledge.

Mr. Cerullo is responsible for the strategic and operational oversight of all activities, staff development and physician relations at the 298-bed Wuesthoff Medical Center - Rockledge.

An accountant, who worked his way into hospital finance and operations, Mr. Cerullo has held various leadership positions in Florida hospitals for the past 15 years.

He comes to Brevard County from West Palm Beach, where he was the chief operations officer of 460-bed JFK Medical Center.

The Animal Emergency and Critical Care Center of Brevard has announced that Dr. Paula Levine, with more than 20 years of veterinary internal medicine experience, has joined the center's veterinary specialty team.

Paula Levine, a diplomat of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine, enjoys all aspects of internal medicine but has special interests in endoscopy, immune-mediated diseases and endocrine diseases.

New development director at Brevard Zoo

Brevard Zoo has announced that Karen Davis has been hired as the director of development.

Ms. Davis will be responsible for Brevard Zoo's comprehensive development programs, including: capital campaigns, major donor fundraising, annual giving, corporate and foundation relations, and planned giving.

In her past association with the Zoo, she has chaired the JAZZOO and Safari Under the Stars committees and served on the board of directors.

The American Red Cross has formally announced that Karen Hagan has been selected as the new regional chief executive officer for the American Red Cross Mid-Florida Region.

The American Red Cross Mid-Florida Region serves 13 counties: Brevard, Citrus, Flagler, Hernando, Highlands, Lake, Marion, Orange, Osceola, Polk, Seminole, Sumter and Volusia.

Ms. Hagan joined the Red Cross in 1985. Since then she has been the CEO of two Red Cross Chapters, served as the state relations representative in Florida, a disaster response planner for the southern United States, Florida's state disaster specialist and most recently as the state disaster officer for Florida and Georgia.
