Chamber board of directors ballot
The Greater Palm Bay Chamber has notified its members in good standing, who are interested in being on the 2013 ballot for its board of directors.
According to the bylaws, any member can seek a seat on the board by petitioning in writing to be placed on the ballot and providing a list of 20 names and signatures of qualified chamber members, who support him or her.
This is to be delivered to the Chamber office no later than Sept. 24 to be placed on the ballot for the Oct. 3 luncheon.

Bertram Yacht appoints new HR senior director
As part of the continued efforts to build an organization with some of the best talent in the boating industry, Bertram Yacht has appointed Doug Reed as senior director of human resources.
Mr. Reed brings more than 30 years of human resources experience and has a proven track record in the development and implementation of lean manufacturing techniques in marine manufacturing.
In his new role, he will lead the human resources organization for Bertram Yacht at the new facility in Merritt Island.
His mandate is to build an organization with some of the best talent the industry has available and develop a rigorous operating culture, based on lean manufacturing and continuous product improvement.

Chamber welcomes new members, 'Businesses of the Month'
The Greater Palm Bay Chamber of Commerce recently welcomed the following new members to the Chamber: Odyssey Charter School in Palm Bay, Weichert Realtors/Hallmark Properties of Palm Bay, Goldmine Arcades of Palm Bay, Rao's Pizza of Palm Bay, Cash America of Palm Bay, Wag N Tails of Palm Bay, Anytime Fitness of Palm Bay an AAA Auto Club of Palm Bay.
The Chamber also announced its recent "Businesses of the Month," which are unveiled at its membership luncheons.
In July, the winner was Remedy Pawn in Palm Bay, and in August, the winner announced was Serene Harbor, also of Palm Bay. Each winner is presented with a custom certificate.
The Greater Palm Bay Chamber of Commerce, formed in 1989, has more than 900 active, courtesy and prospective members and is accredited by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce with a four-star ranking, a distinguished honor bestowed to select Chambers.
The Greater Palm Bay Chamber is also the only chamber in the U.S. aligned with an international "sister" chamber in Cashel, Ireland.

Peer recognition program bestows awards

Red Cross introduces regional chief executive officer
The American Red Cross has formally announced that Karen Hagan has been selected as the new regional chief executive officer for the American Red Cross Mid-Florida Region.
The American Red Cross Mid-Florida Region serves 13 counties: Brevard, Citrus, Flagler, Hernando, Highlands, Lake, Marion, Orange, Osceola, Polk, Seminole, Sumter and Volusia.
Ms. Hagan joined the Red Cross in 1985. Since then she has been the CEO of two Red Cross Chapters, served as the state relations representative in Florida, a disaster response planner for the southern United States, Florida's state disaster specialist and most recently as the state disaster officer for Florida and Georgia.
