NEW SMYRNA BEACH - Among the upcoming September activities at The Hub on Canal is a one-day workshop on Pine Needle Basketry taught by Diana Moore from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, Sept. 21.

Learn about the significance of Pine Needle Basketry in Florida while making your own basket the way the pioneers made them. No previous experience is necessary. The cost is $50, with materials provided. Bring you own lunch or order in.

Also scheduled are classes on "The Theory of Color: Everything You Wanted to Know About Color" taught by Christope Cardot, (386) 426-6374, or www.christopheart.com

Classes will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Tuesdays. Cost is $75 and supplies are included.

Learn about color wheels, the properties of color, and how to mix color in your favorite medium. No art background is necessary.

"Basic Music Theory I" will be taught from 6 to 7 p.m. beginning Tuesdays, Sept. 11, at The Hub. Cost is $25 per class with materials provided. Basic Music Theory covers the fundamentals of music harmony, intervals, and key signatures. Participants will learn notation, melody structure, chord symbols, and begin to create simple compositions.

Dr. Martorano also will teach "Songwriting in Popular Styles I" from 7:15 to 8:15 p.m. Tuesdays beginning Sept. 11. "Songwriting in Popular Styles" covers the craft and technique of commercial songwriting. Participants in the will learn about melody, harmony, rhythm and form. Cost is $25 per class, materials provided.

A free Book Club at The Hub will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Friday, Sept. 14, sponsored by Renewals Bookshop, 221 Washington St. The book will be "Daughters-in-Law" by Joanna Trollope.

A six-week course on "Law of Attraction Secrets: How to Manifest What You Want in Every Area of Your Life," will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesdays, Aug. 29, to Oct. 3.
