Open play softball scheduled
The city of DeLand Parks and Recreation Department will offer open play for woman's fast-pitch softball.
Each session will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. each Thursday until Sept. 20, at the Sperling Sports Complex in DeLand.

Youth soccer slated
The city of DeLand Parks and Recreation Department will be offering a youth soccer league for boys and girls ages 4-15.
Games will be played on Tuesdays and Thursdays at Sperling Sports Complex in DeLand.
The city will be offering free soccer clinics for ages 6-15 from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug 25., 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug 30. and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 6.
The cost per player is $58 (plus $3 non resident fee) for players ages 6-15 and $50 per player for the 4- and 5-years-olds.
Each player will receive a dry fit game jersey, shorts, and socks.
Participants may register at the Parks and Recreation office, 230 N. Stone St., DeLand, or at one of the clinics.
