.Ormond Beach Senior Center: The center holds a dance each Wednesday from 2-4 p.m. and features a five-piece band The Blue Notes who play music primarily from the '40s and '50s. An admission of $4 is charged and includes refreshments. Participants should not wear jeans or shorts to this dance. The center has three art classes [a fee is charged], four exercise classes [modest fee], various card groups and games [$1 to play all day] billiards, table tennis, Spanish, French, Italian [language classes are free], a creative writing group [free], Tai Chi [modest fee], a bingo game every Friday, a group of knitters who gather here to make blankets and shawls for Hospice patients [their time and material all donated], the Art Guild of Ormond Beach- a 25-member association of very talented local artists- meet there to paint every Tuesday, the executive board of the Ormond beach Senior Games [games held every October and the group is always looking for volunteers to join the organization] meet here bi-monthly, and representatives from the Florida Department of Elder Affairs [S.H.I.N.E.] are here Tuesdays to offer free counseling on health insurance and Medicare issues. .Ormond Speech Toastmasters Club: This club meets at 6 p.m. each Tuesday at the Unitarian Universalist Society, 56 N. Halifax Drive Ormond Beach, to learn how to talk turkey without turning chicken. .American Sign Language Classes: Easter Seals Deaf & Hard of Hearing will host a beginner's ASL class at 4:25 p.m. each Tuesday; advanced students will meet at 5:30 p.m., each Thursday. .Cooking class: Instructor Elaine Pitenis will hold an interactive cooking class each month, at The Casements, 25 Riverside Drive. After class, students will enjoy a brunch inclusive of some of the items prepared in class. The class cost is $76.30 per person.
