ST. LUCIE COUNTY -
The Chamber of Commerce is accepting applications for its 2013 Leadership class.
In its 31st year, Leadership St. Lucie selects up to 30 county leaders to participate in a two-year program intended to increase individual and community leadership skills and awareness.
Selections are made based on a nominee's volunteerism, education, professional achievement, personal objectives, and commitment to the community and community accomplishments.
The class spends one day a month for 11 months studying specific aspects of the community, such as education, government, history, economic development, health and human services, the environment, cultural awareness and quality of life issues.
Leaders from businesses, local government, nonprofit organizations and more are encouraged to apply.
Upon graduation, participants are asked to serve on a chamber committee to apply their community knowledge and leadership skills for the betterment of St. Lucie County.
Leadership St. Lucie continues to develop a network of community leaders providing the background, knowledge and expertise necessary for them to serve in public or private leadership positions within the county.
The program is a year-long commitment. Applications are available at www.stluciechamber.org and are due by Sept. 21. There are a limited number of partial scholarships available.
The unified Chamber of St. Luce County is an organization of business owners working together to help grow their business through advocacy, education and exposure.
