Resident named
to honors list
Katherine Epifanio, of DeLand was named to the Spring 2012 honors list at Mary Baldwin College.
Students named to the honors list earned grade point averages of 3.75 to 4.00.
To be eligible, a student must be a degree candidate and must have earned at least 12 semester hours for the grading period.
Resident receives scholarship
Jacob Browning of Deland has been accepted to Ashland University in Ohio for the fall semester of 2012.
Browning graduated from DeLand High School and will receive the Ambassador Award of $7,500 annually to attend Ashland University.
Stetson names new director of Career Development, Academic Advising
Joseph Protopapa, director of Integrated Career Services and Employer Relations at The Career Center at the University of Akron (Ohio), has been selected as Stetson University executive director of Career Development and Academic Advising, starting in August.
Mr. Protopapa will lead a new, innovative university initiative merging Career Development and Academic Advising. The new initiative is designed to assist students in navigating their liberal learning experience and help them market that experience toward graduate study and employment.
Additionally, Cindy L. Oakley-Paulik has been named assistant director of Academic Advising. Ms. Oakley-Paulik joins Stetson from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.
Five new trustees appointed to Stetson University's Board
Five new trustees have been appointed to Stetson University's Board of Trustees.
Each trustee was appointed to a three-year term, effective July 1.
Six current trustees were reappointed for additional three-year terms.
The new trustees are:
Steven Alexander, a Stetson alumnus, a managing director and partner in the PFM Group's Orlando office, with 24 years of investment and financial management experience. Mr. Alexander is a member of Stetson's School of Business Administration Advisory Board.
Tony Jenkins is the market president for Central and Northwest Florida for Florida Blue (formerly known as Blue Cross Blue Shield of Florida).
Brenda H. Lopez, a Stetson alumna, is a retired educator and current owner of Inside Job, an interior decorating business. Lopez taught at St. Anne's School in Spain and later at Clewiston (Fla.) Middle and High schools, as well as the Clewiston Adult School.
Richard C. "Rich" George, a Stetson alumnus, has served in key management positions as a county government administrator in central Florida with an emphasis on growth management and public land acquisition.
Ken Ziesenheim, a Stetson alumnus, is an industry consultant for mutual fund distribution companies. He is also a financial advisor with Raymond James Financial Services and an arbitrator with FINRA.
The trustees appointed for additional three-year terms are Hyatt Brown of Ormond Beach; Bonnie Foreman of St. Petersburg; Jill Jinks of Atlanta; Patrick Lane of DeLand; Lu Prats of St. Petersburg; and David Rinker of Atlantis.
