PORT ST. LUCIE - The first Crary Buchanan "Fathers & Families" blood drive attracted donors from across the county, saving lives and inspiring people to help others.
Mike Crary and a select group of caring fathers asked their friends and families to donate blood on June 16. The goal: to honor fathers and father figures the day before Father's Day.
Florida's Blood Centers' Big Red buses collected 63 units in the parking lot of Lowe's on St. Lucie West Boulevard. Each pint of blood can save three lives and every donation stays in the county.
"We thank everyone who came out and contributed," said Mr. Crary, managing partner at the law firm of Crary Buchanan.
"They made a difference in St. Lucie County."
Among the fathers who came to the event and donated were: Chris Fogal of Proctor, Crook, Crowder & Fogal; Lare Ziemba of Health and Wellness Center of Port St. Lucie; Tony Molinari, certified public accountant; Al Soricelli, financial consultant at AXA Advisors; Stuart J. Sabol of Treasure Coast Ear Nose/Throat and Scott Samples of Martin Health System.
Also contributing were Crary Buchanan partner, Steve Beres and his daughter, Sarah.
"This is what being a caring father is all about, acting as a role model and involving a child in a good deed," said Mr. Beres, who practices estate planning and the administration of wills and trusts.
"It was a great way to celebrate Father's Day."
