VERO BEACH - A 12-year-old boy told authorities, "I wanted to do something bad," after being accused of robbing a store clerk at knifepoint, an arrest affidavit said.
Alonzo Williams, 12, 2843 Sixth St. S.W., a sixth-grade student at Oslo Middle School, was arrested by the Indian River County Sheriff's Office on June 26 and charged with armed robbery.
A store employee at Discount Beverage Store, 543 27th Ave. Southwest, Vero Beach, told investigators he recognized a juvenile as the same person who previously had stolen beer.
When asked to leave, the juvenile pulled out a knife and stole four cigars, valued at 69 cents each, the clerk told investigators.
The clerk, who identified Alonzo as the robber, told police he backed up when Alonzo pointed the knife at him.
