The Center for Business Excellence, the regional workforce board that oversees the One-Stop centers of Flagler and Volusia counties, will increase the amount of money it will invest in scholarships for jobseekers.
The new system will offer scholarships up to $7,500 for each customer seeking employment in a targeted occupation. The targeted occupations are jobs within industries that have more than 10 job openings each year and earnings of more than $10.21 an hour. The list of targeted occupations is available at http://www.onestops.com/staff/TOL-WR11%202011-2012%20mod.pdf.
The training must be provided by an approved provider. The list of approved providers is available at http://www.onestops.com/Jobseekers/Approved%20Training%20Vendors.pdf
The first deadline for applications for the upcoming academic year is July 20.
Anyone interested in pursuing a scholarship should review the list of targeted occupations and approved training vendors to find a suitable match. Then contact a local One-Stop Employment Center for a skills assessment and further details.
