PORT ST. LUCIE - A little more than a year ago, Anthony Olano opened the doors to Town Jewelers II in Port St. Lucie. Inside was only one showcase.

"I built the business little by little," Mr. Olano said.

It also gave him an opportunity to show the community his expertise in restoring jewelry and creating custom pieces.

"Everyone goes to the mall," he said. "I wanted to focus in a different area."

Now the store is filled with both showcases and customers, and Mr. Olano's 27 years of experience is reflected with every piece of jewelry he restores and creates.

"When a jeweler tells someone there's nothing they can do to repair a piece, that's my time," he said. "I focus on the repair more than anything else."

To help him achieve his results, a laser machine sits quietly next to his wooden workbench and all his tools.

"The laser allows me to do so much more," he said. "It gives me the precision I need to restore a piece."

Another part of his quality customer service are the numerous cameras located throughout the store, including his workbench. Mr. Olano videotapes himself repairing jewelry to show the owner of the piece.

"I want to be able to show the customer the repairs I do to their jewelry," he said. "It gives the customer the knowledge of what's involved in restoring a piece of jewelry."

For those who choose a custom engagement ring, he will record the process of creating the ring and give the video as a gift to the couple.

"Every single day I have more and more people come in my store and discover what I do," he said. "It's a success, and I'm proud of that."

Town Jewelers II is located at 3259 S.W. Port St. Lucie Blvd. in Port St. Lucie. It is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday. For more information, call (772) 236-5575.
